Every year, millions of people move country for one reason or another—whether for an exciting job prospect, for education, or out of desperation: in search of better job opportunities to provide for a family back home.
Whatever the reason, there is ample evidence that migrants on the whole contribute tremendously to prosperity and economic growth in their destination countries. But, it's a controversial and difficult balance to achieve. As The Economist's foreign editor Robert Guest argues in his special report, Australia provides an excellent model for how to get migration right.
